The Art Of Make-Up

I once believed that low-end make up brands do not give justice to your face. I would see common people who seemed to be a participant in a merry-go-round when they wear their make ups. I thought the very reason was that they are using supermarket make-ups. But the wedding I attended two weeks ago proved me wrong.

I was a secondary sponsor on Perry and Gemma's wedding in Pangasinan. With that, I really need to fix myself since I have a role to play during the ceremony as well as during the reception. My friends - Nels and Erms and I were actually hesitant to entrust ourselves to the make up artist. Pangasinan. Gays. They might be just one of the many badings who would love to pour on all the palette's content on you. Yet, our social etiquette told us otherwise. It would be rude that we will alienate ourselves among the other sponsors just because we are not confident as to how they will do justice to our over all look. And so we took the risk of giving them the tag as our MUA.

A little something is still  holding me back still when I saw their make-up brands and started putting them on my face. I was really at the verge of telling them to use what I have because more or less I was already confident as to the result of those on my face. But then again, I trusted them wholeheartedly. One thing that requested - make it a nude make-up.

And so after like one hour.... the results were really, really amazing!

Look at how my eyes were turned into smaller ones and less the bulge!

Make-up: random supermarket brands like Ever Bilena, Careline, and Nichido

Hair was done in such a way that it will give less emphasis on my face!

Gown was from Cinderella at 80% off:  Php 750.00

Clutch was from Liberte, Robinsons Department Store: Php 200 something

Stilettos was from Gibi on sale: Php 700

The motif was bright red and bright yellow so what I did was to have a minimal yellow accent

Nail polish was in Mango Tango shade

Watch is from Trinoma tiangge at Php 100

"Brooch" was actually the so-called flowerettes which are used for designs on hairs or cakes. :D

I saw the importance of the skills of applying make-ups. Yes, branded make-ups are more pigmented, has stronger lasting power, has nicer shades, etc, but then the key to a best make up look is to know how to apply them whether they are branded or not.

Wedding Outfit

This was how I prepared for the wedding of my dear friends - Gen and Tun! Accounts of their wedding is in my other blog)

Hair: 

I promised to curl my hair for a more sophisticated and formal look. I prepared my crowning glory by washing off with S shampoo and conditioner. By the way, I am loving these duo!!! After shower, I let it dry naturally, while I am doing my make up. 

For the styling part, I used my Avon curlers (reviewed previously. see here) and a styling mousse I bought at ATC grocery months ago. 

Make-up:

It was more or less a safe make-up for me. One thing I was so happy was that I put on my Stila smudgepot perfectly for the first time! I so love it! My make-up was done by different brands I have in my vanity kit. And yes, I did not wear a lipstick to tone down the red effect of my dress. =) 

 

Dress: 

No, I'm not Chinese that I chose to wear red for the wedding! It's just that when I first laid my eyes on this piece, I knew I will wear it on Gen and Tun's wedding. It was perfect for the semi-formal attire required for guests. It's an on the knee lenght, "semi" satin fabric, with a square-shaped neckline. It was a conservative look on the front but.. ola! the on the other side has a big triangular-shaped cut baring my back. Sexy yet conservative - perfect!

Accesories:
It was a red and black combination for me. I had a stunning red dress and curled hair, so I opted to go for classical Mango black pumps, littlest unbranded bag from Robinson's Dept. Store, and my Mark and Spencer all around scarf which I used as belt, and a fancy drop down earrings (not in the picture). I do away with the usual to high-heeled "wedding/formal" sandals to get a semi-formal look.

Platinum Nails for a Wedding Celebration!

Tomorrow is my friends' wedding at Tagaytay. It was April of last year since I last attended one. I'm quite excited for tomorrow. It would also be a get together with the goons - the DB Soft boys I mean. :D So for tomorrow's special celebration, I hopped on to the salon to get my nails done!

 I always got compliments for having a candle-like shaped fingers. But fingers won't be that good if you dont have very neat nails!

I don't wear my nails long in my toes. I just find it weird having one... :)

I go the salon twice a month for my nails. It is one way for me to de-stress. :)

Anyhow, here are some of my rules when having my mani and pedi get cured:

a. Platinum is my classic/favorite/default shade

b. My favorite part is the nipper rippling off those edges of my nails and my dead skin

c. I'm a masochist at times and so I want my "ingrown" (did I spelled/got it right?!) to get off my toe nails even if it means having it wounded! :D

d. For my fingers, pusher does its task reversely. So it's more of "pulling" of the surface of nails so that I'll spare my cuticle from the nipper.

e. Still for my fingernails, no nipper on my cuticles please!This is actually a secret of not having those "dark" cuticles sitting on your fingernails.
